DUFE Celebrates “International Chinese Language Day”

April 20th marks the 13th anniversary of United Nations Chinese Language Day and the 3rd International Chinese Language Day co-hosted by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation and ChinesePlus. Prof. Fang Hongxing, President of DUFE delivered a video address to wish all people interested in the Chinese language a happy Chinese Day.

A poetry recitation was held by the School of International Education to celebrate this year’s UN Chinese Language Day. 34 students participated in the activity and presented various works, including both ancient poems of different dynasties and some contemporary Chinese poems. Michelle Kwok from Indonesia and Ri Su Yon from North Korea won the first place in the junior group and the senior group respectively.

The two Confucius Institutes of DUFE held diverse and inventive activities during the Chinese Language Day. Confucius Institute at the Zuyd University of Applied Sciences organized a lecture on Chinese calligraphy and a calligraphy contest. Confucius Institute for Business at Matej Bel University (CIB at UMB) arranged a seminar regarding Chinese tea culture. Paulina Kudlova, a Chinese learner from CIB at UMB was awarded “Youth Cultural Ambassador” in 2022 United Nations Chinese Language Day & The Second CMG Overseas Chinese Language Video Festival.
